Miss World Sri Lanka 2019 Crowned

Dewmini Thathsarani, 21, from Kandy has been crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2019 at the glamorous grand finale held on Monday 14 October.

Dewmini who was crowned by Amritaa De Silva, Miss World Sri Lanka 2016, said: “It is with great pleasure and humble pride I bear the title of Miss World Sri Lanka 2019. I have come this far with the support of you all and I hope I can make all of you proud at the upcoming Miss World 2019 which is to take place later this year in London. With a promise to bring pride to my country I remain with a heartfelt note of thank you and sincere gratitude to all those who have been by my side through this strenuous yet beautiful journey.”

The ceremony opened with a fusion dance performance of traditional Kandyan and throughout the evening guests were treated to a colourful spectacle of traditional dance and costumes including Rajasthani style outfits of heavily embroidered and stone studded full-length skirts and colourful jackets with foot-long odhnis worn as a veil.

She will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent Sri Lanka along with 130 contestants from around the world at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
