Miss World Nigeria 2019 Crowned

Nyekachi Douglas, 21, from Ibaa in Emohua representing Rivers State has been crowned the new Miss World Nigeria. Judges voted her as the ‘Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria’ during a night of glamour at the prestigious event held on 11 October at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Bayelsa.

After hearing her name, she said: “I can’t believe it. I want to thank everyone for supporting me up to this point. I love you guys.”

The last representative from Rivers State to be crowned Miss World Nigeria was Agbani Darego who became the first native African to be crowned Miss World in 2001.

Nyekachi will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent Nigeria along with 130 contestants from around the world at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
