Miss World Cook Islands 2019 Crowned

Tajiya Eikura Sahay, 26, was crowned Miss World Cook Islands on the 26 October 2019 at Rarotonga, Cook Islands.

She succeeds and was crowned by Reihana Koteka-Wiki and said “I am counting down the days to London. The experiences, personal growth and development, meeting and getting to know the other contestants, supporting women and forming new life-long friendships are going to be an amazing opportunity.

“Being a part of this year’s Miss Cook Islands has taken me out of my comfort zone, enabled me to grow in confidence, given me the opportunity to reach out to a wider audience promoting a healthy lifestyle and get more involved in my community.”

Before relocating to Rarotonga in 2016 Tajiya spent 8 years as an early childhood educator in Australia where she completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She loves children and working with young people in general. She’s been a junior netball coach, a fitness instructor, a Red Cross Volunteer and has helped with the Just Play programme.

She will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent the Cook Islands along with 130 contestants from around the world at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
