Miss World Ireland 2019 Crowned

Chelsea Farrel,19, from Ardee in County Louth was crowned Miss World Ireland 2019 at a star-studded show hosted at The Helix Theatre in Dublin on Saturday 14 September.

Currently studying to be a midwife, Chelsea was crowned by last year’s winner Aoife O’Sullivan, a primary school teacher from Cork.

Chelsea said: “I am a very determined person and love the idea of being a role model and do everything I can to be just that, whether through social media, in person or charity work. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to participate in Miss Ireland and I am so excited for the road ahead.”

This year marked the 72nd Miss Ireland. The event continues to grow and evolve and has become a key date in the Irish social calendar. This year’s theme was ‘TRAVEL’ and guests were taken on a journey across the world in a spectacular choreographed show followed by a gala black-tie dinner.

The entire evening was hosted by presenter and stylist Brendan Marc Scully and former Miss Ireland, model and influencer Aoife Walsh, who flew in from New York especially for the event. The audience was entertained by former Britain’s Got Talent finalists Leah Barnaville, Ireland’s Got Talent semi-finalist Paul Ryder wowed audiences with his performance and recent Eurovision representative Sarah McTernan.

The evening was a true all Ireland clash as 33 county representatives and their supporters turned out for the final of Miss Ireland 2019.

Chelsea will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent Ireland along with 130 contestants from around the world at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
