Miss World Dominican Republic 2019 Crowned

Alba Marie Blair, 21, has been crowned Miss World Dominican Republic 2019 during the grand coronation held at the Bavaro Grand Resort, Punta Cana. Presenting the event broadcast live on Telecentro Canal 13 was former Miss World Caribbean 2016, Yaritza Reyes.

Alba said: “Today I present to you as the new Miss Dominican World, with the privilege and commitment to represent my beautiful country at this year’s Miss World final in London. During this process of preparation and hard work, I have had the opportunity to grow and learn new things that strengthen me not only for my journey ahead but for my life and to be able to contribute to my community and my country.”

Through ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ Alba has been working with the Nazareth children's orphanage in the province of Puerto Plata, where children with mental, physical and motor disabilities who are abandoned by their families at birth are cared for and given an incredible place to live that they can call home.

The Dominican Republic has crowned one Miss World, Mariasela Álvarez in 1982.

Alba will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent the Dominican Republic along with 130 contestants from around the world at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
