Miss World British Virgin Islands 2019 Crowned

Rikkiya Brathwaite, 22, from Tortola has been selected to represent the British Virgin Islands following her coronation ceremony held at Scrub Island Resort on Saturday night.

Recently returning home after completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Miami, Rikkiya has big dreams of being a multi-media performer with her eyes set on TV & film and the bright lights of broadway.

Rikkiya will use her year and will focus her ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ projects to help build the social economy in the BVI through the performing arts by providing sponsorships for budding artists to attend college or art camps abroad.

She said: “I went to several art camps when I was younger, and I was grateful to have parents that funded that for me. I am aware that there are children here whose parents who afford to pay for them. So, I would be responsible for seeking out talents in the BVI and raising funds to send students to further their craft and learn more about the arts elsewhere.”

Rikkiya will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent the British Virgin Islands along with 130 contestants from around the world at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
