Miss World Steps Back Into The Forties

On Saturday the 17th of August, as part of her continued visit to London, reigning Miss World, Vanessa De Ponce León, attended The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings 90th anniversary event at the stunning Orsett Hall in the Essex countryside.

The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings is a group of professional performers and wives of Water Rats (male performers) who get together to help a number of charities through their initiative ‘The Cup of Kindness'. The theme for the event was ‘A Fabulous Forties Affair’ with women looking sophisticated in cocktail dresses and gentlemen wearing tuxedos.

Vanessa described the atmosphere as: “A magical way to travel through time,"  as she indulged in a traditionally British supper at the top table alongside Sinatra tribute act Stephen Triffitt.

Vanessa who has been busily working on 'Beauty with a Purpose' projects was eager to learn more about this year’s chosen charity that provides specialist equipment for elderly residences in the local area. She added: “It’s evident that the Grand Order has created a solid community, and that is their greatest asset. They have managed to help many amazing causes as a group that always supports one another.”

The evening ended with Vanessa kicking up her heels to John Miller and his orchestra in true forties style.
