Julia Morley honoured as Queen Mother for Bosomtwi

Julia Morley, the chairman of Miss World has been honoured in Ghana with a chieftaincy title as a Queen Mother for Bosomtwi Traditional Area in the Western Region.

This rarely given honour is for Julia’s decades of service to vulnerable people all over the world. Maame Esi Akomaso Nkosuohema was conferred on her at a ceremony at Huni Valley on Friday. This was during the commissioning of a ten acre site for the construction of a Beauty With A Purpose Orphanage and Skills Development Centre.

It was witnessed by all the tribal leaders in the region along with a miss world team that included Miss World 2018, Miss World Africa and Miss World Nigeria who all traveled to Ghana with the Founder of Miss World’s Beauty with a Purpose Program. Also present were Inna Patty; CEO of Miss Ghana organisation; Exclusive Events Ghana and miss world Ghana 2018.

Julia, The First Lady of the Miss World organisation took over the reins as CEO in 2000, after the passing of her husband Eric Morley, who created the pageant. Julia has used the BWP platform to empower young woman to support society in various ways. Julia has been to Ghana on a number of occasions to support the projects of the Miss Ghana BWP Foundation.

Her return to Ghana this year is to among other help formally launch the next phase of work on a ten acre land site which included building a hostel for children who have suffered extreme abuse This is the only functioning child protection centre in Ghana. Julia Morley has pledged further money from Beauty With a Purpose to support this project.

The Miss World team, also visited children suffering Scoliosis at the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS) Hospital in Accra on Friday (a separate report will be made on this). The visit was followed by a helicopter ride to Huni Valley to launch the newest BWP project - the construction of the first ever skills centre in the region which when completed will serve tens of thousands of young People providing them vocational skills and training to prepare them for life .
