Miss World Scotland 2019 Crowned

Keryn Matthew, from Edinburgh, has been crowned Miss World Scotland 2019 on Saturday 8 June at the prestigious event held at The Grand Central Station Hotel in Glasgow.

Throughout her journey, the 24-year-old former Edinburgh University student has been raising funds for the Alzheimer Scotland charity. It's a cause that's close to her heart after she previously revealed her grandad had suffered from the condition.

Former Miss World Scotland and reigning Miss UK, Linzi McClelland, said: “What a night! It was so difficult being a judge, the girls were all so beautiful and really embraced ‘Beauty With A Purpose’. The girls all worked extremely hard for their chosen charities and collectively raised tens of thousands of pounds.

"I am so happy for Keryn, our new Miss Scotland. I know she will be a great ambassador for Scotland and has already got a great charity project that she is looking forward to sharing at Miss World later in the year. She has an amazing year ahead and will make the best memories.  Well done Keryn!"

Keryn is going to have tough footsteps to follow as Linzi McLelland from East Kilbride was the pride of Scotland after finishing in the top 12 and being crowned Miss UK at the glittering 68thMiss World final held in China. Linzi is only the third Miss Scotland to have placed this high in 20 years!

Following in footsteps of Linzi, Keryn will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent Scotland along with 130 contestants from around the world at the month-long festival and 69th Miss World Final.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
