Miss World Bolivia 2019 Crowned

Iciar Díaz took over the Miss World Bolivia reign, from Vanessa Vargas, on Monday 29th June 2019. Twenty two contestants, from nine Bolivian regions, competed in the national final. The event, held at the Sirionó Hall of FexPo, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, marked the 40th anniversary of the Miss Bolivia contest.

Several generations of former Miss Bolivia titleholders came together for a grand opening to the 40th contest. They were followed by a vibrant routine by the contestants in national costume. The audience were further dazzled by contestants elegantly modelling evening gowns by national designers.

The contest’s ethos was the ‘integral beauty of women.’ Candidates were involved in social work projects, including the defence of women against violence. Reporters remark, “when questioned, some candidates addressed the current empowerment of women in all spheres of society.”

Iciar is a 22-year-old social communications graduate, professional singer and model who would like a career in news media. She has studied in England, Spain and Brazil but is happiest in her home city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Iciar will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role. She will represent Bolivia, along with 150 contestants from around the world, at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final in London.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
