Miss World New Zealand 2019 Crowned


Lucy Brock from Auckland has been crowned Miss World New Zealand 2019 during the national grand final held on Sunday 26 May at the Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna, North Shore.

Crowned by reigning Miss World Oceania, Jess Tyson, the 24-year-old senior creative strategist and Bachelor of Communications and Business from Auckland University of Technology said: “It’s hard to find the words to describe this feeling. I am absolutely over the moon, grateful, in shock and excited! My dream has come true, becoming Miss World New Zealand 2019!


“I am so excited to get stuck into my ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ project and make a difference here in New Zealand. This is a project I’ve wanted to create for some time, so I cannot wait to share it on the world stage. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey, in particular, Jess Tyson Miss World Oceania. You are an absolute icon and embody everything I hope to be. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor and just want to make you proud. Here we go, I am so excited for what’s ahead of me.”

As Jess passed on the crown, she said: "People have asked me how I feel about ending my reign as Miss World New Zealand. Many think I’m sad that my time is over, but I feel the complete opposite. I'm so excited to be here to celebrate the achievements of our beautiful contestants."

Jess placed in the top 12 at the 68thMiss World Final in China and was named Miss Oceania 2018.

Lucy will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent New Zealand, along with 130 contestants from around the world, at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
