Miss World Ecuador 2019 Crowned

María Auxilidora Idrovo took over The Miss World Ecuador reign from Nicole Ocles on Saturday 27th April. First Runner Up, Andrea Quito and Second Runner Up, Fernanda Yépez will support Maria during her tenure.

Nineteen contestants competed for the prestigious crown and performed a vibrant opening sequence in which they introduced themselves. The show was broadcast on the channel TC and presented by Harry Levy and Miss World Ecuador 2013, Laritza Párraga.

Contestants proceeded to model attire by the best designers in Ecuador. The evening gowns modelled were either red, white or beige and embellished with crystals that glistened effectively on stage. The entertainment interlude was a fusion of the dance troupes KBNC and Magnet who performed a slick, contemporary routine. This was followed by the announcement of the top finalists and winner who were supported with rapturous applause from fellow contestants and the audience. Miss World Ecuador’s prize package included a car, a variety of beautiful gifts from sponsors, a scholarship to study English in Toronto and the honour of representing Ecuador at Miss World 2019, of course!

The preliminary Top Model, Sports Challenge and Traditional Dance competitions were held in the weeks running up to the final show. Maria won the traditional dance competition, which garnered her a good number of points for the final. Likewise, First Runner Up, Andrea Quito earned a good number of points by placing second in the sports and third in the top model contests.

The Miss World Ecuador Director states: “Beauty With A Purpose is the ethos of the contest with candidates serving society through a project.” This year, the contestants established ‘Donate your bike.’  The Miss World Ecuador Director reports that 100 bikes and an additional 3000 pairs of shoes were donated to children, of scarce resources, in seventeen communities of East Ecuador. This will enable them to get to school and receive an education.

Maria Auxilidora Idrovo is 17 years old and represented the region of Guayaquil. She is studying for a bachelor of science degree. She plays a variety of sports and likes watching professional football matches.

Maria will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent Ecuador, along with 130 contestants from around the world, at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
