Miss World Lesotho 2019 Crowned

Palesa Makara from Khubetsoana has been crowned Miss World Lesotho after impressing the judges at the grand finale which took place at the Avani Maseru Hotel on Saturday 2 March.

On receiving the crown, the Home Economics graduate who intends to pursue a degree in Environmental Health at the National University of Lesotho said: “Many people have a fear of failure which brings them down. I worked on my fear by looking at myself in the mirror, now I know I can beat the fear and come out on the other side.”

During her year, Palesa has set her sights on transforming the country’s environmental health and focusing on rural areas by providing access to clean drinking water.

She will now enjoy a year of appearances in her new role and will represent Lesotho, along with 130 contestants from around the world, at the three-week festival and 69th Miss World Final.

The highly-anticipated Miss World final show will be broadcast globally to over 150 countries, where global fans can watch reigning Miss World, Vanessa Ponce de León, pass the crown to the 69th Miss World.
